On-Purpose

Robert Mansel Lewis

I am originally from West Wales. I went to Cardiff University where I studied French and Welsh. During my time at university, I spent some time in Sub-Saharan Africa where I worked with non-formal education projects that aimed to get kids back into school. This experience was so impactful that, after university, I did the Teach First graduate scheme and subsequently worked as a French and Spanish teacher. Then, in 2022, I graduated with an MA in international development and education. When I worked in education, it was a joy to work with young people from a range of backgrounds. Moreover, it was a privilege to see the transformative power of education in the lives of pupils who were the first in their family to attend university. Throughout the On Purpose programme, I hope to continue to be part of a movement that aims to bring change to people's lives, but by stepping outside of the classroom and into a completely different role that champions the values of people and planet. I am passionate about getting the experience needed to work in the charity space, and I am thrilled that the next step of my career is with On Purpose.
