On-Purpose

Sergio Ung

Sergio trained as a solicitor at global law firm Allen & Overy and qualified into its Litigation Department, where he worked on many complex matters that often involved unfamiliar or novel areas of law (such as cases arising out of the multi-billion US dollar Madoff fraud). He subsequently became in-house legal counsel in a number of public and private sector organisations.

Prior to On Purpose, he was a lawyer within the prisons team at the UK Ministry of Justice, providing advice to operational and policy colleagues whose work is critical to keeping the public safe, creating a secure environment for staff and prisoners, and the rehabilitation of offenders. While he pursued his career in law, Sergio also volunteered at organisations including the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, where he focused on corporate accountability matters.

Sergio is excited by the opportunity to develop himself through the Associate Programme, so that he can take an active leadership role in addressing the many significant social and environmental challenges the world faces. Outside of work, Sergio enjoys travelling (particularly sampling local culinary delights), art and design, and sports. Sergio holds a Bachelor of Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics.
