Phil Buckle
Phil has spent the last eight years in the charity and social enterprise sector, in Nepal and the UK, variously as Chair of Trustees, CFO, mentor and advisor on strategy and governance. His experience includes work with Child Welfare Scheme Nepal (street refuges and clinics) and Reclaim Project Manchester (“giving disadvantaged young people a voice and developing their leadership skills”).
This has given him a deep understanding of the culture of the sector and the challenges for management.
It followed a career in manufacturing in the UK, Brazil and Australia, including as MD of Armitage Shanks Bathrooms and Qualcast/Atco Lawnmowers. Also as a supplier to the mining sector in Western Australia and Queensland and a factory build and move in Sao Paulo.
He has an economics degree from the LSE and an MBA from the London Business School (part taken at Chicago).
He lives in Derbyshire and London, watches Sheffield Wednesday (hard work) and, with the Derby Carnival Drummers, seeks to bring the spirit of Rio to the East Midlands (even harder).
