Holly Budgen
Holly joins On Purpose after returning from two years working as an Education Specialist in Zambia with PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools). Her role involved working with an all local team to improve access to and the quality of sustainable secondary education. Prior to this, Holly was Director of Spire Hub (now TalentEd), a start-up education social enterprise which paired retired teachers with high ability disadvantaged GCSE pupils at weekly after-school sessions. She joined Spire Hub for its first two years of operations, and worked on defining and formalising the systems and processes to help Spire Hub expand into more schools outside of London and work towards sustainability.
Outside of work, Holly is passionate about the social sector and has volunteered training teachers in Uganda, performing theatre at a dementia home and at soup kitchens for homeless and vulnerable people. Holly holds a degree in Philosophy from The London School of Economics and a PGCE achieved whilst teaching mathematics at a challenging school in Leeds on the Teach First Programme.
