“Through on-placement learning, Friday trainings, mentoring and coaching, I feel much better equipped and placed to move into the social enterprise space in the long term.”
Louisa Barnett
Before starting at On Purpose, Louisa spent four years working in business intelligence and corporate investigations, most recently managing the Middle East and North Africa desk at Salamanca Group, a merchant bank and operational risk consultancy. Her work at Salamanca focused on providing clients with pre-transactional due diligence, dispute support and investigations, and political and country risk reporting. Before this, she worked in Damascus for two years as a management consultant on a project related to Syria’s museums and cultural heritage sites.
In 2012, together with some friends, Louisa started fundraising for urgent humanitarian relief in Syria through a monthly Syrian Supper Club, a charity popup dinner, and MarmalAid, a social enterprise selling marmalade inspired by Syria's bitter oranges. She is a founding trustee of UK-registered charity, The Hands Up Foundation.
Louisa holds a BA in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from Oxford University.
