On-Purpose

“The On Purpose Associate Programme is like a springboard. From it I have jumped straight into working with dynamic people dedicated to tackling the world's most urgent environmental challenges.”

David Bernard

Prior to joining OnPurpose David spent five years practising as a lawyer. He specialised in commercial dispute resolution, advising companies impacted by anti-competitive business practices across Europe.

As an associate he helped create and pursue strategies which recovered millions of Euros of compensation for the firm's clients. David was responsible for managing multiple stake-holders and ensuring that claims were delivered to budget whether pursued in or out of court.

In 2016 David worked with Ghanian entrepreneurs co-developing strategies to test and refine their business ideas. More recently he volunteered at a Refugee camp in France and for the legal charity Asylum Aid. In Dunkirk he concentrated his efforts on securing accommodation and political asylum for unaccompanied minors.

Outside of work David dedicated a year to designing and delivering weekly mentoring sessions for a child who had been referred to an early-intervention programme for his aggressive and disruptive behaviour.

David graduated with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese before qualifying as a lawyer. As a side-project he researches and leads food tours of London's historic East-End.
