Broadway Living - Ealing Council

Ealing is the third-largest London borough and home to around 350,000 people. We are the third most ethnically diverse borough in the country and this is reflected across our seven distinct town centres, giving rise to Ealing's unique character.

Across Ealing, less than one in five residents live in social rented accommodation (lower than the London average) and the number of applications received has increased substantial in recent years and continues to far outweigh available supply. Providing good quality housing at a price people can afford is a key challenge for Ealing Council in a borough where eight in ten residents cannot afford to rent privately.

In 2018, elected leaders pledged to deliver 2,500 new genuinely affordable homes by 2022, with the council's Housing Development team securing £100m funding from City Hall to support its own direct build programme - the largest and most ambitious in London. Ealing is well-connected with a strong economy and the challenge will be to ensure that this planned growth is inclusive of our existing communities and that it remains genuinely affordable for future generations.
