Emily Lewis
Before joining On Purpose, Emily worked as a solicitor specialising in Corporate Crime and Compliance. She has experience working on a number of high-profile corruption investigations and prosecutions.
Emily is an environmentalist with an interest in corporate sustainability, and grew her legal practice to include advising upon governance risk in the context of the 'environmental, social & governance' umbrella. She joined On Purpose in order to focus on the ‘environmental’ and ‘social’ components of this equation, and learn how to best deploy her skills and enthusiasm to drive impact in addressing the climate crisis and the social issues underlying and exacerbated by it.
Emily volunteers with two organisations with environmental protection and sustainability at their heart: Not 1 More, an environmental campaign group that supports frontline environmental defenders and investigates the root causes of environmental conflict; and Responsible Raw Materials, an initiative seeking to facilitate practical solutions to ensure a responsible and sustainable future for the extraction of raw materials for use in the energy transition.
Emily is a keen cyclist. She cycles with a local cycle club and competes in sportive and Audax challenges. In 2020, she founded a cycle coaching business aimed at encouraging organisations to incentivise their employees to cycle to work and reduce their environmental impact.
Emily holds an LLB Law from the University of Manchester and an LLM in International and European Law from the University of Amsterdam.
