Jasmine Gill
Background
Jasmine has been coaching professionally for over 5 years, after completing a Diploma in Transformational Coaching in 2019 and is an Accredited Professional Executive Coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). She is also an optometrist, which has been her profession for over 19 years, and a member of the British College of Optometrists and General Optical Council.
While holding a coaching diploma is an important credential, Jasmines’ value as a coach extends far beyond certifications. As an optometrist she possesses a variety of transferable skills that are highly useful in the role of an executive coach, such as active listening, which allow her to understand the needs and goals of her clients in detail.
Diagnosing and treating vision problems involves critical thinking and problem-solving. These skills are directly applicable to helping clients identify organisational challenges, areas for improvement, and understand the issues affecting their performance as a leader. With executive coaching, Jasmine assists her clients to develop their own strategic solutions with personalised coaching plans, and supports them to action them.
The optometric experience in guiding patients through transitions in their eye health can also be applied to coaching leaders in navigating change, understanding resistance, and implementing effective change management strategies. These skills are crucial for helping clients think critically and creatively about their opportunity with change in the workplace.
Jasmine has had the opportunity to develop strong interpersonal skills through her experience with patients. These skills help build trust and rapport with her clients too, which is essential for effective coaching. Working with people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds means she is able to identify and address micro-inequalities that may exist within companies.
By utilising her experience in mediating patient concerns, Jasmine guides clients in developing a calm and systematic approach to conflict resolution, ensuring that disputes are managed constructively and that professional relationships are maintained and strengthened.
Optometrists adhere to strict ethical guidelines with professional bodies. This distinction is valuable in the way in which as a coach, Jasmine supports leaders to make decisions that are not only strategic but also ethically sound. Promoting ethical behaviour contributes to a culture of fairness and inclusion.
Coaching approach
A blend of transformational coaching and solution-focused coaching combining the deep, personal growth orientation of transformational coaching with the goal-oriented, practical nature of solution-focused coaching.
