Maria is a dedicated sustainability enthusiast and entrepreneur with a background in law. Transitioning from her roles as an international trade and customs lawyer to a self-employed translator, Maria's career has been marked by a profound shift in values driven by her experiences of relocating between countries, as well as family and professional transitions. With a goal of spreading awareness about climate change, Maria co-founded a grassroots community, 1.5 degrees, that connects sustainability professionals and enthusiasts. This initiative focuses on raising awareness about climate change and sustainability issues through webinars, media publications, expert-led discussions, and courses. Throughout her professional journey, Maria honed her skills in compliance, regulatory frameworks, and strategic legal advice. She also learnt to think outside the box and find solutions to complex problems. She has provided innovative legal advice to clients navigating intricate regulatory challenges and collaborated with diverse teams to develop strategic positions in high-stakes cases. Her academic foundation includes a master's degree in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and a bachelor's degree in law from the Russian Customs Academy. Now, Maria is eager to deepen her expertise in sustainability and climate change in purpose-led organizations and believes On Purpose is the best opportunity to do that.
