Rachel Situmorang

Rachel brings over a decade of extensive experience as an energy and natural resources lawyer, with a career that has spanned continents from Indonesia to the UK. Her unwavering commitment to ethical and responsible resource development has been a driving force throughout her professional journey. In Indonesia, Rachel worked alongside some of the biggest players in the country's resource sector, including Freeport, BHP Billiton, Newmont, and Rio Tinto. Her legal acumen played a pivotal role in navigating the intricate landscape of energy and natural resources in Indonesia.

However, Rachel's passion extends beyond the confines of the legal realm. Her deep-rooted dedication to environmental sustainability and social justice led her to pursue further studies in the UK in 2016. Rachel's most recent role was with BP's Legal Strategy & Sustainability team in the UK, where she harnessed her strong legal foundation and gained exposure to BP's sustainability strategy. This was a momentous experience in her career, as she transitioned into a sustainability professional, dedicating herself to advancing sustainability practices and principles.

Rachel's passion for the water is evident in her love for scuba diving and free diving. In addition to her underwater pursuits, she also enjoys hiking and surfing (with a preference for warmer waters!).

Rachel holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from University of Indonesia, Master of Laws (LL.M) from SOAS University of London and Business Sustainability Management qualification from Cambridge University. She is also a licensed Advocate recognised by the Indonesian Bar Association and a certified ESG professional accredited by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
