Tessa Furnivall
Before joining On Purpose, Tessa spent seven years working in the legal sector, initially as a commercial litigator at Hogan Lovells then working as a public and regulatory lawyer at Bates Wells (a B corporation), following her desire to move into more public-spirited work. Tessa has gained a range of skills and experience through her career, and most recently at Bates Wells she primarily advised charities and public bodies on their legal and regulatory obligations, with a focus on the education and health and social care sectors.
Outside of her day job, Tessa has carried out various pro bono and volunteering work, including for Plan B in its challenge to the Heathrow expansion and representing victims of sexual abuse making applications for criminal injuries compensation. Her involvement in such work and her time at Bates Wells increased her motivation to move into the positive impact space and ultimately led her to apply to On Purpose, where she is extremely excited both to learn and to apply her skills, experience and ambitions in order to maximise her personal impact.
Tessa has a degree from Oxford University in English Literature and in her free time she likes to catch up with friends, exercise, play music and explore new places.
