Tom Phillips
Tom Phillips is a consultant and mentor with a focus on business solutions to sustainability challenges. He has a particular interest in new and better approaches to agriculture and food production and the reduction of food waste. He is keen to see a world where our consumption of food is decoupled from environmental degradation and poverty.
Tom worked in Ghana for five years with agricultural impact investor AgDevCo as Country Manager. There he was responsible for closing high-impact investments in companies creating jobs, linking small-scale farmers to profitable markets and improving food security. He was also responsible for portfolio management and provided hands-on support to investee companies in their operations and growth.
Previously Tom spent five years with McKinsey & Company where, as a Sustainability Fellow, he worked on topics including economic development, climate change, energy and natural resources. His first experience in social enterprise was as a volunteer with Technoserve, an NGO working with small-scale farmers in Kenya.
