On-Purpose

Patrick Ballin

Patrick has been coaching for On Purpose since April 2012. He is an executive coach with particular experience in the areas of career development and effective interaction. Clients range from large corporations to non-profit and social enterprise groups like Compassion in World Farming, Retail Trust and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.

During the 1980s, he was Technical Director for Apple Centre West London, helping lead a small business in its development from nine people to sixty over a nine year period. Patrick spent the next fourteen years working at The Body Shop, where he led strategic supply chain projects all over the world and, as a Trustee of its charitable foundation, worked with founders Anita and Gordon Roddick.

He went on to complete Advanced Coaching training at Ashridge and to gain accreditation in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), MBTI, Profilor and Belbin Team Roles.

This is what he has to say about coaching: "I am curious about people and organisations and it's a genuine privilege to be invited into their own unique worlds. As coaches, we get to find out what makes people and organisations tick, learn about their needs and aspirations, appreciate their particular magic and help them on their chosen way. I know from my own experience that the break-though moments in coaching can generate the most valuable and long-standing changes in our careers. My approach to coaching involves a lot of dialogue, testing and challenging and the use of some carefully selected tools. I also call on a wide base of knowledge and experience from working in and with organisations from so many different sectors."

Patrick holds an MA in Natural Sciences (Cambridge), a Higher Education Academy Teaching Fellowship (Brighton) and is a Fellow of the RSA.
