“After years of working in policy, I felt the need to be closer to the front lines and to work more closely with the organisations and entrepreneurs for whom I was trying to design a policy environment that supported their ability to scale”
Tamer Azer
Prior to joining On Purpose, Tamer was a Project Manager at the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity in Toronto, where he worked on projects aimed at addressing public policy issues hindering the prosperity of Canadians and the competitiveness of the Canadian economy. Throughout his career he has worked with entrepreneurs and supported launching, scaling and capacity building operations of start-ups in Canada, Egypt, Morocco, the United Kingdom and Uganda in the education, technology, consumer protection and consumer goods industries. Tamer received his Bachelors degree from the University of Toronto in Economics and German in 2006 and his MBA from the University of Oxford in 2013.
On Purpose Placements
Tamer worked across a number of areas at Big Society Capital, from strategy to research to investments. He was so thorough in his work: one of his projects led to a large publication, another is going to shape how we work with our institutional partners.
