Fellow Spotlight: Rahul Agarwal
We're constantly inspired by the remarkable ways the On purpose community creates impact and brings about transformative change. This month we're thrilled to shine a light on Rahul Agarwal, October 2014 cohort, who is currently working in healthcare and life sciences with the Department for Business & Trade.
My cohort was October 2014 – a great bunch of diverse people. My passions were developed during that time with one placement in healthcare, and another in international, with my ongoing career being a fusion of both.
After On Purpose, I freelanced and then joined the UK Government whose scale has maximised my impact. My passion is global health and at the Department for Business & Trade we form international partnerships between UK companies and the NHS in areas from clinical to digital health to precision medicine. The Civil Service is surprisingly dynamic with dedicated people. But it sometimes lacks strategy, purpose and “out of the box” thinking which is where my On Purpose experience has aided. Some of my 100’s of highlights include leading a UK global health “Trade & Development” programme, delivering life science delegations and bilateral collaborations and designing a “catalyst” helping the NHS share expertise globally.
Outside of work I’m a governor for a Chelsea Community Hospital School, a new father to the cutest baby, travel (68 countries now…) and collect Lego. In September my role changes and I’m heading to the British Embassy Beijing for two years as a British Diplomat working on healthcare.
