Fellow Spotlight: Reka Budai
For this month's Fellow Spotlight, we're excited to shine a light on Reka Budai from our October 2016 Associate Programme cohort and the transformative impact she's making!
"When I joined the Associate Programme in 2016, I properly uprooted my life, moving to London from Budapest and transitioning from the consumer goods industry to the education sector. Despite the challenges that came with all this change, I remember this year as one filled with growth.
My first placement was at the Widening Participation Department of King's College London, and I remained at my second placement, FutureLearn, for 3 more years after the programme, taking on the Head of Insights role eventually. The best thing about London was the plethora of opportunities, and I took on some volunteering in education-related organisations, where I could directly interact with pupils through tutoring with Action Tutoring and mentoring with Yes Futures.
I am absolutely grateful for the Associate Programme, which facilitated my transition into a sector that has always been close to my heart and met some wonderful people along the way. I joined Oak National Academy a few months after it started at the onset of the pandemic to ensure continued access to learning during school closures; at its peak week 2.5 million pupils studied remotely with us. I have been leading the Research function since then and witnessed the positive impact we have had on teachers and pupils alike. I am always happy to to connect with the On Purpose network, feel free to reach out!"
