Hugh Chatfield

Before joining On Purpose Hugh worked for a fast-growing youth employment social enterprise called Generation - an organisation designing and delivering targeted, in-person skills training programmes for young people who have become disconnected from the world of work. Here he launched the organisation's first programme in the retail sector in the UK, whilst scaling the flagship cloud computing programme.

Prior to this he worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, primarily focused on commercial and strategic work for major NHS hospitals trying to reconfigure and redesign their models of care. However, during this time he also touched on the travel, nuclear, defence, careers education, and telecoms sector across a variety of functions.

Hugh has a degree in Economics from Cambridge and after completing his degree, before entering the world of work, spent time volunteering at a homeless shelter near where he lives, Foodcycle - the food recycling charity -, and on farming projects with rural communities in Ecuador.

Outside of work he can be seen swimming, running, cycling, playing hockey, busking on his guitar or practising his Spanish.
